Hi Brenda: sorry to hear your pain is back. My pain has been back since nov. different pain along with all the usual pain. started from the top of my head and met the rest of the pain an expoded. Day and night not let up. Increased my medication didn't help at all and finally end of march it decreased 98% just the way it started. I was a mess. I contacted dr. k and he only recommends another mvd for me. I have a 50% chance of being pain free but i'm a-typical as well so i probably won't be totally pain free. i can live with that if i can decrease the meds they drive me crazy. I have to keep moving or i fall asleep at the computer as well. Our daughter is getting married in Oct. and i would like to wait until after this time before i have an mvd. the last 4 people in my group that had surgery had complications and i don't want to spoil the wedding for her. Anyway i wanted to tell you when dr. k had dinner with our group in oct. he told us that you don't have to have an mri to have surgery. That in most cases the mri doesn't show anything. We all thought that was interesting. I guess as the yrs move on they have new info for us. I won't make the US conference this year. If you hear anything new from the last one would you let me know so i can share with my group. I hope our tn settles down. And your not alone in your pain. Hang in there

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the note.  My pain has thankfully settled down recently, so I'm moving onward and upward!  Taking each day one day at a time.

So sorry to hear that you have been hit with it again.  I can relate to the awful side effects from the medication.  I just could not function on them.  Hopefully, you'll be a little more regulated by the time your daughter's wedding comes up in October.  Congratulations, by the way!  And, don't worry about "spoiling" it for her.  I'm sure she understands this insidious disease and just wants you to be there in any shape or form!

I know that an MRI doesn't show compressions very often when they actually exist.  Not to worry, my doctor won't even send me for one.  I  have been trying to get a referral to see a neurosurgeon for 6 months now, with no luck.  Thank god I have slipped into a glorious "remission" for the time being.  I'm very disappointed with my family doc right now.  Looks like I may have to start shopping around again.  I guess if the pain comes back, I will try again to get an appointment with Dr. K.  Are there are plans to have him back for any more dinners with your group?  I was sorry to have missed the last one.

I hope you find some pain relief soon Kathy.......You hang in there, too!
